casing. Description: A Russian silver egg by Maria I. Semenova, Moscow, made between 1896-1899 with an
associated papier-mâché casing. The exterior of egg is engraved with roses, vines and foliage. The egg opens
to reveal a gilt interior. The papier-mâché casing has a depiction of a harbour scene with a sail boat on
one half and a mill with a water wheel on the other half.
