Information on the Artist Leon Applebaum was born in 1945 in the US. During his time at college he attended hot glass
classes and was instantly drawn into the world of art glass.
After achieving a BFA at Massachusetts
College and an MA at Peabody College of Vanderbilt University Leon set about exhibiting his work. In the early 70s he went
to Sweden and enrolled in Orrefor’s Glass School. A further year was spent at Boda Glass where he learnt Swedish hot
glass techniques such as trapping air and creating bubbles, working with colour spectrums and thick glass designs.
Moulding his ideas and skills attained in Sweden, Leon returned to the United
States and competed his MFA degree at Rochester Institute of Technology.
Leon has educated students in Naples USA and has attended and
conducted workshops throughout the US. He currently resides and works from the Sahaj Glass Studio Prattsburg, N.Y.
