Description: A c.1976 studio glass vessel with a very interesting free form piece of glass, it’s a cylindrical column with a large globular top which has been flattened.  The top globular section has a blow hole is in the top of it with colours of yellow green and blue spiralling down into the bottom column section where there is a large elongated spiral of colour leading down to base where there are 5 bubbles of varying size.  There are wisps of yellow colouring within the cylindrical section. The base is polished and has the artist signature and date for 12/10/76.

Description: A c.1970’s studio glass, a very interesting free form piece of glass column with a large globular top.  The globular section has a blow hole in the top and has yellow blue and green mottled colouring that spirals down into the cylindrical bottom section. Bubbles both large and small are dispersed around the top section and down into the cylindrical section which also has an elongated bubble in the centre that ends in a coloured spiral wisp at the base of which are 5 bubbles of varying size.  The base has a polished pontil and the artist’s signature.

LEON APPLEBAUM'S PROFILE Leon Applebaum was born in 1945 in the US.  During his time at college he attended hot glass classes and was instantly drawn into the world of art glass.  After achieving a BFA at Massachusetts College and an MA at Peabody College of Vanderbilt University Leon set about exhibiting his work. In the early 70s he went to Sweden and enrolled in Orrefor’s Glass School. A further year was spent at Boda Glass where he learnt Swedish hot glass techniques such as trapping air and creating bubbles, working with colour spectrums and thick glass designs.  Moulding his ideas and skills attained in Sweden, Leon returned to the United States and competed his MFA degree at Rochester Institute of Technology.  Leon has educated students in Naples USA and has attended and conducted workshops throughout the US. He currently resides and works from the Sahaj Glass Studio Prattsburg, N.Y.
