Carlton Ware c1935-39 Sketching Bird pattern posy bowl

This is a great piece of Carlton ware. Made c 1935-38 it is decorated with the 'Sketching Bird' pattern 3890, that is a fantastical jewelled bird flying in front of a gilded tree with weeping gilded foliage and a scattering of enamelled flowers, with a trailing wash of mauve blue & terracotta on a pale apricot matte background all around the sloping gilded rim of the posy bowl. The cylindrical base is matte pale apricot with a blue wash rim above a wide gilt rimmed foot. The backstop is the blue script that I associate with the Handcraft range.
